The vision behind Waves is to unlock the artistic potential of everyone and share a calming and fun desktop light and sound show gadget. It’s one thing to admire art, it’s another thing to explore your creative side and make things.
The Maker Faire is a wonderful place for artists to gather and share ideas. Ken Murphy showed me his LED Art Kit that uses LEDs and plastic diffusion filter to cast colors onto a small screen. The LEDs have a processor built-in, so you only need power them with a small battery and they do the rest automatically. The diffusion filter comes precut to a small rectangle.
It turns out that an ordinary pair of scissors was all I needed to shape the diffusion filter into a sailboat.
I gave it as a gift to a sailor friend of mine. He loved it!
It’s not that I am an artist – far from it – but having a pair of scissors, some diffusion filter, and some light and sound was all it took for me to create a completely unique and meaningful gift.
And that’s all it would take for you to unleash your creativity. The Votsh Waves project on Kickstarter would be a good way for you to get started. It’s at http://bit.ly/waveskickstarter and ships to your home or business by the end of 2014.
And, I also encourage you to take a look at Ken Murphy’s blog for additional great and artistic ideas. His blog is at http://www.blinkybug.com.
