Giving Multimedia Artists A Processing.org Hardware Platform

Artists are very good at manifesting things that help us understand ourselves, the world, and people. The tools artists use to make art today are amazing. For example, Processing.org is an open source project for interactive multimedia artists to create digital art. While Processing.org is a monumental achievement of software, it has no hardware equivalent. I can easily create a water droplet hitting a watery surface in Processing.org. But, I have no way to visualize that with lights and sound unless I build a light box and a speaker.

I am happy to report that Votsh Waves innovated the first use of Processing.org sketch animation objects to drive distributed light and sound shows. Waves is an incredible merging of an artist’s language with a distributed software-hardware environment to run shows.

We made Waves a completely open and programmable environment. Waves is supported by the Arduino Pinoccio global tech movement. Waves is an Internet Cloud-based connected open platform with a distributed operating system, storage and transformation, and audio and visual display tech. It is the coolest new Internet of Things tech.

Waves enhances the Processing.org project by providing an on-line community for creating Processing.org sketches. The on-line community then shares new shows for your Waves, sharing shows with other community members, and even earning money by selling your shows to other community members.

The Votsh Waves project on Kickstarter would be a good way for you to get started. It’s at http://bit.ly/waveskickstarter and ships to your home or business by the end of 2014.
